Remember?

Remember what I said a while back about the perils of succumbing  to the seductions of warm days in March? Well this is what I saw out my window yesterday morning -

And right now it is 23F -- 16 with the wind chill. Spring? HA!

I continue to make progress on the pink thing -- just 24 rows to go and 9 weeks to do them in. So I know I will finish in time for my friend's birthday. Which lets me think about my suppressed desire to start something new.

And that takes me to this gorgeous red silk laceweight yarn I received from Colourmart this week --

And I have 3000 beautiful yards of it! One possibility that draws me is this fan shawl, written for a heavier yarn but I am comfortable trying it with mine on smaller needles

The red is such a pretty color and the yarn has a lovely shine to it, so I think  it would look terrific in a relatively dense lace like this. I think I will play with it a bit later today.

Moe feels that such things need a lot of contemplation, which he does with wild abandon on my lap.

Could it be??

No doubt I will live to regret this, but I think it may actually be spring! Today it is delightfully warm -- 70F! -- and sunny. So we opened the windows for the first time since last fall. The boys are loving the smells and breezes --

A glorious first day of spring.

And progress on the pink thing -- I think you can see I am now into the final eye of the pattern.

Looking for signs

It's sunny and delightful here today and every day this week we are supposed to go into the 50's. So I went outside in search of signs of spring -- some green, tender shoots of something. But all I found was this --

Slight swelling of the lilac buds. We have a ways to go before spring is here.

Last week I got 8 rows done on the pink thing -- a bit more than a row a day. So I am feeling pretty good about that.

Don't be fooled!

It's warm today -- 54F -- and bright and sunny. The snow is all gone.

Progress, no really!

For some reason I have developed a determination to get the pink thing finished. So I haven't been working on any other project. The problem with seeing or showing progress on something like this is that there are so many stitches per row that even a lot of work doesn't look like much. I think there are around 400 beads per beaded row -- I don't actually have the courage to count them because I might give up if I really knew.

So here is a shot of the work today --

Just 40 rows to go. So if I do a row a day -- and that is actually a lot of stitches, I will be finished  by mid-April. I'm setting a target of mid-May, just in case I slow down. The end is actually in sight!!
